A group of frogs was walking through the forest, and two of them fell into a deep hole. When the other frogs saw how deep the hole was, they said, "That hole is very deep. It's hard to climb up. You'd better die in that hole." The two frogs ignored the comment and tried to jump out of the hole repeatedly. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, because they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs paid attention to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell and died. The other frog continued to jump as best he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs screamed at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he came out, the other frogs said, "Didn't you hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were cheering him on all the time. 1. What is setting of the story? 2. What is the purpose of the text? 3.
