Soal ini memerintahkan untuk mengidentifikasi situasi yang lebih formal diantara dialog 1 dan dialog 2. Untuk menjawab soal ini, bisa dilihat terlebih dahulu jenis-jenis kata dan kalimat yang digunakan di dalam masing-masing percakapan tersebut. 

Di dalam dialog 1, bisa dilihat bahwa Rista dan Angga menyapa satu sama lain dengan kata "Hi", dan diikuti dengan nama mereka masing-masing. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Rista dan Angga mengenal satu sama lain dan situasi terlihat lebih santai karena perkataan sambutan awal yang lebih formal pada umumnya adalah kata-kata seperti "Good morning" (Selamat pagi), atau "Good afternoon" (Selamat siang). Lalu, diakhir dialog, Angga mengucapkan "Thanks" (Terima kasih) kepada Rista dan Rista menjawabnya dengan "No big deal" (Bukan masalah besar). Hal ini juga menekankan lagi situasi yang informal karena jawaban yang lebih formal untuk ucapan terima kasih adalah "You're welcome" (Sama-sama). 

Sementara itu, pada dialog 2, bisa dilihat bahwa Customer service representative (Perwakilan layanan pelanggan) dan Mawar menyapa satu sama lain dengan frasa "Good afternoon" tanpa menyebut nama. Dibandingkan dengan dialog 1, penggunaan sapaan di dialog 2 ini menunjukkan situasi yang lebih formal. Lalu, diakhir dialog 2 ini, Mawar mengucapkan "Thank you very much" kepada Customer service representative, dimana ucapan itu dibalas dengan frasa "You're welcome". Cara penggunaan ekspresi berterima kasih disini juga menekankan lagi bahwa dialog 2 berada di situasi yang lebih formal.

Oleh karena itu, cara-cara pemakaian kata tersebut menunjukkan bahwa situasi di dalam dialog 2 lebih formal daripada dialog 1 (the situation in more formal in dialog 2 than in dialog 1).
