KEDIRI CITY

     Kediri is a name of a city. It is situated in a valley between the Kelud and Wilis mountain. It is in habited by about 1,3 million people. In the center of the city there is a large hill which is called the Klothok mount. Because of the topography of the region, Kediri is called a chilly town by the locals. There is big river called Berantas cutting off the center of town. There is an old bridge that was build by Ducth since more than one hundreds years ago. Now that bridge is still good. Beside that there are three bridge that are useful for their  movement population.

     Beside temples, Kediri is also famous for its products like cigarettes and special kind of tofu or bean curd. This highly nutritious food is a delicacy of Kediri and have a distinctive taste. The cigarette factory dominates the city's economy and employs the majority of the women labor force. Kediri and cigarrette factory are inseparable and it is considered the biggest cigarrete factory in Indonesia. Most of the local people work in this factory. Those who do not work here are farmers or traders. They also work in some industries, services, business, and others.

   The name of Kediri is famaous since hundreds year ago......no one who doesn't know Kediri. Along time ago, Kediri was the center of Kingdom in Java island. One of the famaous King is Sri Aji Joyoboyo who could predict in the future.
