Long time ago in the Pantai Air Manis in Padang, West Sumatra. There was a widow named Mande Rubayah who lived with her son named Malin Kundang. Mande Rubayah really loved and spoiled MalinKundang. Then, Malin grew up to be a diligent and obedient child. When he was adult Malin begged to leave, so he could change his fate and that of his mother. Mande Rubayah allowed Malin to wander, he also provided Malin with rice.. Every morning and evening Mande Rubayah looks out to sea. Finally, Malin came by using a magnificent ship. Mande Rubayah, who approached and hugged Malin. But, Malin disowned his mother and kicked Mande Rubayah. Then, Mande Rubayah prayed with a sad heart and then the sky turned dark and There came a big storm which destroyed Malin Kundang's ship and Malin turned to stone. 45.
