Passage 2

How to Sew a Button Using a Matchstick

Tools:

• Scissors
• Thread
• Button
• Matchstick
• Needle

Steps:

1. Thread the needle. Simply pull it through the needle so that there is an equal length of thread. 
2. Tie a knot at the end of the thread.
3. Position the button on the fabric.
4. Place a matchstick under the button above the fabric.
5. Push the needle through the fabric under the button.
6. Push the needle down the button-hole diagonally, pulling the thread all the way through.
7. Repeat the steps until you feel the button is secure enough.
8. Tie the thread off and cut the remaining thread.
9. Remove the matchstick and the button should be in place without being attached too tightly.
