This morning we gave a surprise party for our English teacher. We had prepared the cake, candles and simple decorations for our classroom. We had even messed up our classroom before she entered it. We wanted her to be angry before we showed up with the birthday cake. We thought it was going to be fun to watch an angry face turned into a smile.

When she entered our classroom, everybody pretended to ignore her. We were laughing and talking loudly. Some of us were hiding outside, ready to surprise her with the cake. But nothing happened, she didn't get angry. She just asked us to clean up the room. She even picked up a broom and started to sweep the floor. We could not wait any longer. We showed her the cake and sang happy birthday.

She looked surprised. One of us said, "It was going to be more fun if you were angry, ma'am." Hearing that, she smiled broadly and said, "When I saw the messy room, I thought you were busy doing assignments. That's why I was trying to help you, guys."
