What is the best title of this text?
The word tsunami is a Japanese word, represented by two characters, tsu, meaning "harbor", and nami, meaning "wave". Tsunamis are commonly generated by earthquakes in marine and coastal regions. Other large - scale disturbances of sea - surface that can generate tsunami are explosive volcanoes and asteroid impacts.
In the depths of the ocean, tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height. But as the waves travel inland, they build up to higher and higher heights as the depth of the ocean decreases. The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth rather than the disctance from the source of wave. Tsunami waves may travel as fast as jet planes over deep waters, only slowing down when reaching shallow waters. Some move at over 800 kilometers an hour and can cross an ocean in less than a day.
