The eastern part of Indonesia offers lots of hidden beautiful places on which lush nature and majestic islands reside. Raja Ampat District is not an exception. It is located in West Papua Province and has gained better popularity these days (among travelers). Featuring tons of islands, tourists often come to the site to do island hopping and other fun activities like photography, honeymoon, nature exploration, and many more. The name means “Empat Raja” or Four Kings, actually. It is represented by its 4 major islands called Salawati, Batanta, Waigeo, and Misool. All of them are worth a visit, for sure.
Raja Ampat covers 9.8 million acres of land and sea, home to 540 types of corals, 1,000 types of coral fish and 700 types of mollusks. It makes Raja Ampat as the richest marine biodiversity on earth. Besides, Raja Ampat has a wonderful scenery, especially its underwater corals and beach.
In Raja Ampat's underwater, we can see many untouched natural coral reefs. There live many fish with various colors and types. They usually hide between the coral reefs to take a rest or brood their eggs. There are also the debris of planes and ships sinking during World War II. Because of its beautiful underwater scenery, many tourists come to Raja Ampat Island either from Indonesia or other countries.
Another wonderful experience you will get by visiting Raja Ampat is that you can see local people doing their daily activities. Most of them are fishers. Some of the local people work as tourist guides.
