Pertanyaan

The question is based on the following passage. How Does Sound Travel? The music we hear, the angry shout from someone on the street, the call from our friends and other sounds near us travel before we could hear them. Those sound waves from those activities are transmitted through particles in mediums like: solids, liquids, or gases. These mediums are needed to be the vibrating objects in the sound. In the beginning, the sound waves move through each of these mediums by vibrating the molecules in the matter. The molecules in gases are well separated with no regular arrangement, in liquids they are close together with no regular arrangement and in solids they are tightly packed and usually in regular pattern. Next, different molecules arrangement influences the collision between particles. This collision is what mediates the propagation of sound. This is why the disturbance can also be said as another name of sound. Sound travels faster in the water than in the air because the molecules in the water are closely packed rather than in the air. Another factor in affecting on how the sound travels is the stiffness factor of the materials. The stronger the bond between the material's atoms, the more stiff it is, and hence, help propagate sound better. Thus, the speed of sound is greater in solid mediums as compared to gases and liquids. From the passage, we know that...

From the passage, we know that ... space space

  1. Sound waves travel best in water. space space

  2. Solid is the best medium for sound waves to travel in. space space

  3. The bond between atoms in a medium bears no relation to travelling sound. space space

  4. Rippling water proves that liquid transfer sound vibration better than firmly fixed medium. space space

  5. Wth the same distance, sound waves travelling in air would reach receptors first compared to those travelling in liquid. space space

Pembahasan

Pilihan E tidak tepat karena pada paragraf terakhir terdapat kalimat “ Sound travels faster in the water than in the air. Kemudian disebutkan bahwa“ the more stiff ... help propagate sound better ” artinya “semakin kaku/keras (benda)... membantu bunyi merambat lebih baik”.

Kemudian disebutkan bahwa “the more stiff ... help propagate sound better” artinya “semakin kaku/keras (benda)... membantu bunyi merambat lebih baik”.
