Since then, it had gone on to become the highest-grossing animated movie ever produced. In this animated musical version of the classic story from The Arabian Nights, Aladdin survives by his wits on the streets of the Arabian city of Agrabah. Meanwhile, Princess Jasmine, the Sultan's daughter longs to make her own choices, especially about whom she would marry. These two meetwhen the Princess runs away from the palace and Aladdin rescues her in a crowded marketplace. Unfortunately, their budding romance is cut short when he is captured by the evil Jafar, who recognises the boy as the 'diamond in the rough' needed to retrieve a magic lamp from a cave in the desert. Aladdin, however, ends up with the lamp and the bonus inside - a genie who could grant him three wishes. "Like so many things, it is not what is outside but what is inside that counts," that is the message of the film, though, that is most endearing. The film - may not be as artistically astounding as Beauty and the Beast, nor will it have the emotional impact of Bambi, but its new brand of comedy and memorable jazz tunes will certainly brand this film a classic animation.
