In pairs, practice the following dialog. Answer the questions that follow Bagus: What are you reading, Mawar? Mawar: I am reading news about protest against global warming. Bagus: Interesting. But, who are the protest addressed to? Global warming is a worldwide issue. Mawar: It's not really addressed to a person or institution. It is more to raise awareness to put effort to fight against global warming. Bagus: O.K. What do the protesters ask, then? Mawar: Plenty. They want people to start using green products, use less fossil fuels, and many more. Bagus: Who are these protesters? Are they from an environmentalist community? Mawar: Several of them. But, you know what is interesting? Most of the protesters are teenagers like us. Bagus: Why are so many teenagers joining the protest? Mawar: Because we will be the ones who will feel the damage of the worsening global warming. Think about it. Bagus: That's true. Our parents might no longer live by the time the effect is worsening. Mawar: We should also try our best to stop the worsening effect of global warming. Why is global warming an important issue?

Untuk menjawab pertanyaan, temukan kalimat yang menunjukkan alasan. Kalimat alasan biasanya ditandai dengan kata atau frasa "because", "as/since", "that's why" dan lain-lain. 

Oleh karena itu, temukan kata atau frasa tersebut di dalam kalimat. Kemudian perhatikan kalimat yang muncul sebelum dan atau sesudah kata/frasa tersebut.

Pada dialog dapat dilihat bahwa terdapat kata "because" yang muncul dari dialog Mawar yaitu "Because we will be the ones who will feel the damage of the worsening global warming..." yang artinya "Karena kitalah yang akan merasakan kerusakannya jika pemanasan global terus terjadi..."

Sebelumnya terdapat kalimat yang merupakan dialog dari Bagus yaitu "Why are so many teenagers joining the protest?" yang artinya "Kenapa banyak remaja yang ikut protes?"

Jika kedua kalimat tersebut dihubungkan, dapat dilihat bahwa penyebab banyaknya remaja yang ikut protes terhadap pemanasan global adalah karena remaja lah yang akan merasakan dampak kerusakannya. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pemanasan global itu penting karena menyangkut masa depan remaja masa kini.

Jadi, jawabannya adalah, "It is an important issue because the damage of the worsening global warming will be faced by the future generation".
