Growing crop plants need several elements to make it stay alive. The most important elements for plantation are hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, phosphorus, nitrogen, sulfur, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
Crop plants obtain carbon and hydrogen dioxide from the atmosphere. While the other nutrients are taken up from the soiI. If the soil's nutrient is not enough, the crop plants will not maximally grow. It can affect the amount of production. So to avoid that case, farmers need to give additional nutrients or doing the soil treatment.
Overall chemical analysis indicates that the total supply of nutrients in the soil is usually higher in comparison with the requirement of crop plants. Much of this potential supply bound tightly in forms that are not released to crops fast enough to give satisfactory growth. This will make farmers interested in measuring the available nutrient supply as contrasted to the total quantities.
Why do farmers prefer considering the only available nutrients to the total quantities of nutrient found in soil?
