Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Mary. She lived with her aunt and uncle because her parents had died.
One day, she heard her uncle and aunt talking about leaving her because they wanted to go to Abroad and they didn’t have money to take her with them. She was sad and disappointed at the same time. The next day she ran away from home while her aunt and uncle were having breakfast. She ran away into the woods without looking back. After that she was very tired and thirsty. Then she saw a little hut, she knocked at the door, but no one answered. So she went inside.
Marry was a diligent girl. When she saw the room was dirty, she cleaned it right away. Afterwards, she felt tired and fell asleep.
At night, three women came home from work. They went inside the hut. There they found Mary who was sleeping. They also found that their house was not dirty anymore. There was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he loses his temper, he must hammer a nail into the fence.
The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily, gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy should pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said “You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one.”
You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.
Why did the boy drive fewer nails into the fence than he did before?

In the days when an a soda float costed less, a 9 year old girl entered a coffe shop and sat at a table. A waiter put the menu in front of her.
“How much is a soda float?”
“One dollar,” replied the waiter.
The little girl pulled her hand out of her cute little pink purse and studied a number of coins in it.
“How much is a bottle of soda?” she inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table and the waiter was a bit impatient.
“75 cents,” he said brusquely.
The little girl again counted the coins. “I’ll have a bottle of soda,” she said. The waiter brought the soda bottle, put the bill on the table and walked away. The girl finished the soda, paid the cashier and departed.
When the waiter returned, he began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what he saw. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were 25 cents – his tip.
Why did the waiter swallow hard ?

In ancient times, the king placed a boulder on a roadway. Then he hid and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.
Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything to get the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After lots of pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying on the road where the boulder had been.
The purse contained a lot of gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.
Why did many people blame the king ?

LADY WHITE AND LADY YELLOW
Once there were two chrysanthemums growing side by side in a field, one white, one yellow. One day a gardener came and offered to take the yellow flower to his home and make her far more beautiful. The yellow flower jumped at this chance and waved to her sister as she was carried away in the gentle hands of the gardener. Day by day, the yellow flower petals grew long and soft and she looked perfect.
One day a man came saying he was looking for a flower to put on the lord’s crest. The gardener showed the man his best flower, the yellow chrysanthemum. But the man shook his head and said that the flower had too much style and that he wanted something simpler. The yellow flower was disappointed but tried not to dwell on it.
The man crossed the field of the white chrysanthemum. He came up to her and said, “How would you like to be the object on my lord’s crest. We would make sure you have very nice life.” Soon she was planted in a small planter by herself on a windowsill in the lord’s mansion. The lord and his family agreed it was perfect for their crest. So artisans came and painted the flower on all of the family’s belongings.
As for the yellow chrysanthemum, her luxury was short lived. One day she felt a terrible feeling coming through her leaves and then she fell over and lay on the ground. The white flower was carefully conserved. The gardener were careful not to disrupt her simple beauty for he knew that the family had chosen her instead of the fancy yellow one, which was now dead in the gardener’s garden.
The man preferred the white chrysanthemum to the yellow chrysanthemum because ….
