How to Breed Goldfish

Materials needed

• A male and female goldfish
• A tank at least 59 to 70 gallons of capacity, with proper filtration system and 21°C of temperature
• Protein-rich pellets and live foods ·

Methods:

1. Put a male and female fish in the tank. Feed them with protein-rich pellets and live foods to ensure health. Wait-until they look ready to breed (usually after they turn one year old). The male usually grows white spots on the fins, and the color becomes richer. The female becomes fatter and rounder than usual. TM male may also act more excitedly around the female.
2. When these signs appear, move the female to a separate tank. The tank can be 10 to 20 gallons of capacity, with the same setup as the main tank. The temperature must range between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius. Add some underwater, plants and spawning mop, which will become the place for the female to lay her eggs.
3. Once you see the eggs, move the female back to the original aquarium because goldfish lay numerous eggs on the plants or spawning mop, · and sometimes they eat their own eggs. If you see dark-colored eggs, you can remove them. Dark eggs have a low chance of hatching, so you can increase the spawning success rate by keeping the light-colored eggs.
4. When the eggs finally hatch, you will see the fry staying at the bottom of the tank. They eat the yolks from their egg sacs as the first nutrition sources, so you don't need to feed them immediately.
5. Start feeding the little fish with special foods for fry. You can also create protein mix by mixing a piece of boiled egg yolk with some water from the spawn tank. Shake it well until the water becomes murky and add several drops of it to the spawn tank.
