Kizhi Island is located in Russia. The island is in the middle of Lake Onega in Karelia, Russia. It is an original and unique place. The whole island is like a museum of stunning wooden constructions that look like they are straight out of a-fairy tale. In the 1950s, lots of historic wooden buildings were moved from different parts of Karelia on to the island in order to save them. Although it is a UNESCO site, not too many people know about it.
