Once upon a time there was a poor but very good little girl, who lived alone with her mother. The girl and her mother were farmers who had only a tiny piece of land. One day there were a very long dry season. They couldn't grow anything on theirland. Thus, they had nothing in the house to eat. The girl and her mother were starving. So, the child went out into the forest since her mother was sick. In the forest she found a lot of wild berries. She picked enough of them for herself and her mother but something unexpected happened. On her way home, she met an old woman who already knew her distress,but she asked the little girl if she could have some of the berries she had picked. The little girl didn’t thought for a second and gave some of her berries immediately to the old woman. The old women then asked ‘why do you give it to me if you needed yourself?’. ‘because i’m still young and strong’ replied the girl. ‘Don’t worry, I can look for them again and I’m sure I could find more’ said the girl cheerfully. The old women was pleased with what the girl had said. So, she presented her with a pot which had a special power. If one said to it, “Boil, little pot!” it would cook sweet soup; and when one said: “Stop, little pot!” it would immediately cease to boil. The little girl was very happy. She took the pot home to her mother, and now their poverty and distresses were at an end, for they could have sweet broth as often as they pleased.
