Once upon a time, in a big house, there lived a father and his daughter named Upik Abu.
Upik Abu only lived with her father because her mother had passed away. One day, her father decided to marry a widow who already had two daughters. Then, they became a happy family.
One day, her father went out of town for a business trip for a week. Upik Abu stayed at home with her step-mother and two step-sisters. Suddenly, the table turned. Her step-mother started to act differently towards her. She made her do a lot of things she wasn’t supposed to do.
Two days later, there was a party held by the richest man living across their house. She wanted to go with her step-sisters, but her mother did not let her. She was really sad. She cried, “Everyone is going to the party but me. I really want to go! Dad, I really wish you were here.”
When she was crying really hard, a Fairy Godmother suddenly appeared behind her and said, “Beautiful girl, don’t cry.”
Hearing her voice, she was very surprised. She turned around and saw a sparkly tiny Fairy Godmother with her glowing magic wand. Upik Abu didn’t believe what she saw. So, she asked her to iron all the clothes to prove it. Then, the Fairy Godmother granted her wish.
“Syabadu!” she chanted.
Magically, all the creased clothes became neat. Upik Abu now believed that the Fairy Godmother was a real fairy. She then told her about the miserable life she had been living with her step-mother and step-sisters. She also told her that she really wanted to join the party. Then, the Fairy Godmother promised to help her, but she needed to prepare several things.
“You have to prepare these things: a pumpkin, two cats, and a mouse,” she replied.
Thirty minutes later, Upik Abu finished preparing all the things the Fairy Godmother had requested. To the garden, they went. She asked Upik Abu to arrange them in order. A pumpkin in the center, the two cats in front of it, and the mouse next to the pumpkin.
The Fairy Godmother circled around the arrangement while chanting, “Syabadu! Syabadu! Syabadu!”
The pumpkin, cats, and the mouse, all of a sudden, turned into a strong magnificent carriage.
“Wow…” she said in awe. Then she mumbled, “My clothes… They’re awful.”
“Don’t worry, my dear,” the Fairy Godmother heard her.
Suddenly, her lousy dress changed into a very beautiful gown. Before Upik Abu left, The Fairy Godmother reminded her of her condition: Upik Abu needs to be back before the clock struck 12, at midnight. Eager to go to the party, Upik Abu nodded and went off to the party with the carriage. When she arrived, the people were stunned by her beauty.
A handsome man came towards her.
“How beautiful you are! You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen! Will you be my wife?” he said to her. Upik Abu was taken aback. She calmly said to him, “Sure, maybe after I reach my dreams to get a better education.”
Mrs. Darcy Mean: Okay! That’s the story of Upik Abu. Does the story ring a bell? Yes, it is similar to Cinderella, but the ending is totally different, right? Hope you enjoyed it. Thank you!
