Mount Tangkuban Parahu

    Tangkuban Parahu is located in Cikahuripan Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency, and about 20 kilometres from Bandung City to the north. It takes about 45 minutes by car on weekdays. During the weekends, the journey can take much longer time around 2 to 3 hours because of bad traffic jam.

    Situated at an altitude of 2,084 metres above sea level. Tangkuban Parahu presents not only an exotic panorama but also cold daily temperature around 17°C during the day and 2°C at night. Thousand of pine trees that grow in the surroundings add to the beautiful scenery.

    In addition, to the splendid view, visitors can also see the natural wonder of 3 caters. Ratu Crater, shaped like a bowl, is the biggest one which was formed by the eruption occurred in 1927. This crater is still releasing harmful acidic substance so the visitors are not allowed to go down to the bottom of the crater. The second is Upas Crater. The shape is quite shallow and flat on the bottom. The third is Damas Crater which releases hot springs that can be used to bath. However, to reach this crater, visitors have to descend the valley on a rocky road that become slippery when it rains.

    Besides, if visitors are reluctant to walk, there are also available rental horses that can lead us around this tourist area. Visitors simply pay Rp. 30.000 to Rp.50.000 for one trip.
