BUTTERFLIES
Butterflies are insect with large beautiful wings. Similarly, butterflies have three body parts, which are the head, the thorax and the abdomen. They also have six legs and a pair of wings are attached on its head. They also have compound eyes and an exoskeleton.
Butterflies live in a four-stage life cycle. The adult butterflies lay eggs on the food plant. Later, the eggs hatch and caterpillars appear. They will grow as they eat the plants. When they are fully developed, the caterpillars pupate in a chrysalis. The pupas split after the metarmorphosis is complete. The adult insect climbs out and after its wings have expanded and dried, it flies off.
In a year, some butterflies in the tropics can have several generations or pass more than one life cycle. Meanwhile, others only have a single generation in a year. In some cold locations, butterflies may take several years to pass through their whole life cycle.
