(1) Two women came to King Solomon and stood before him. One woman said, "Oh my lord, this woman and I live in one house; and I delivered a child with her in the house. And it came to pass the third day after that I delivered, that this woman also delivered. We were together, no one else in the house.
(6) “One night, her child died at night; because she overlaid it. Then, she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, laid it in her side, and then laid her dead child in my bosom. When I rose in the morning to give my child suck, it was dead: but I knew it was not my son."
(10) The other woman said, "No, the living is my son, and the dead is her son!"They both claimed the living child and threw their arguments to the king.
(12) King Solomon said, "Bring me a sword!" Then, he said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other."
(14) Then, one of the women said, "Oh my lord, give her the living child! Don’t slay it!" However, the other said, "Let it be neither mine nor her, but divide it."
(16) Then the king answered and said, "Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother there of."
