Banks, airlines, department store, laboratories, schools, industry and government planners use computers. They are important to modern man. Scientist develop the electronic computers in the carly 1940's. it was the beginning of a new field of science. The new field science is called Electronic Data Processing or EDP. Data means information, EDP is the use of clectronic devices to analyze and use information. The first electronic computer was very large. It weights more than 30 tons. It had no complex wheels or clectrical relays. Its moving parts were rapidly moving electrons. Soon, better and faster electronic computers were made.In the late 1950's, computers were built transistor and integrated circuits. They are tiny clectronics parts. Transistor and integrated circuits enable the computer to work even more rapidly than before. A modern computer can make more calculation in one hour than thousand of scientist could make in a lifetime. what can be inferred from the text?
