This text is for questions 12 to 14 Fashion show The Modest Heritage of Indonesia was held on 7th December at the Museon museum in The Hague, the Netherlands. The show was a collaborative work between Indonesian Embassy to the Netherlands and Pelangi Wastra Indonesia organization. It showcased attired made from wastra, Indonesian traditional fabrics, to an audience of 200 people. Each of the eight designers used a type of fabric inspired by a certain region. Designers Deny Rafael picked a Baduy fabric from Banten, Adelina Willy Suryani went with silk from Java’s Garut. Rizky permatasari with fabric from East Nusa Tenggara’s Sumba and Dwi Letari Kartika with batik from East Java’s Trenggalek, Lala Gozali Picked Javanese lurik fabric and Melissa A. Bermara’s work was inspired by Kalimantan hornbills. Meanwhile, Putri Permana designed a bag inspired by the town of Jepara, Central Java. Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja said during the event’s opening that the fashion show was aimed to promote Indonesian cultural heritage through traditional fabrics. He also said that it reflected Indonesia’s developing creative industry. The fashion show began with a discussion titled “Wastra Indonesia, Timeless Sources of Inspiration”. The Netherlands’ centre for Culture and Development’s Yetty Haning led the Discussion.
