The Legend of Toba Lake Once upon a time, there lived a diligent farmer in a village in Sumatra. He is a hard worker, despite only having a very small rice field. Finally, the farmer went home and found Putera playing ball. He was furious. ' "You insolent child! How dare you, you son of a fish!", curse the farmer, unconsciously using the taboo word. After the farmer spoke those words, his wife and child instantly vanished, disappearing without a trace. From the stamp of the farmer's feet, a sudden gush of water appeared. The water then got heavier and heavier by the minute. The water then formed a lake, eventually known as lake toba. And in the middle of this lake lie an island, now known as Samosir Island.
