One summer's day in a field, a grasshopper was sitting on a stone. He was playing a violin while singing. An ant passes by the grasshopper. The ant bore along with a great toil a corn ear that he was taking to the nest. "Ha..ha... Why don't you come and chat with me?" mocked the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"

"I am preparing food for the winter," answered the Ant, "and I suggest you to do the same."

"Why bother about winter?" asked the Grasshopper, "We have got plenty of food at present."

The Ant didn't care about what the Grasshopper had said. He went on its way and continued its toil.

When the winter came, the Grasshopper didn't have any food. He found himself dying of hunger while seeing the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then, the grasshopper learnt something from the Ant.
