Homeless means the state of having no home or permanent place of residence. Homelessness is a social problem that exists in many societies and countries around the world. This phenomenon is considered as one of the biggest social problems facing the world in the twenty-first century. Homeless people can be found in cities, suburbs, and even some rural areas. Homelessness is caused by many factors. One of them is a lack of affordable house. Some people cannot afford rent payments because they are unemployed. They may be unable to find work because of a recession or physical or mental illness. The loss of a job can cause some families to join the ranks of the homeless for a period of time until another job is found. Another homeless people have jobs but do not make enough money to pay for housing, sometimes because the cost of living in their neighborhood has risen. People may also slip into homelessness after living through war, natural disasters, or personal hardship, such as domestic abuse. People are forced into homelessness when they leave prison, care or the army with no home to go to. Many women experiencing homelessness have escaped a violent or abusive relationship. Life events like a relationship breaking down, tosing a job, mental or physical health problems, or substance misuse put people under considerable strain. Being homeless can, in turn, make many of these problems even harder to resolve. However, in nearly all cases homelessness is preventable and in every case it can be ended.
