Keiko was an orca. Orcas are the largest members of the oceanic dolphin family. Keiko was 3,500 kilograms. He was born in Iceland. Keiko had a black back and white chest. He also had a white patch above and behind each of his eyes.

Keiko ate 60 kilograms food each day. He ate many kinds of fish. Keiko was the star of Free Willy in 1993. The movie focused on the quest for freedom for a captive orca. Just like in his movie, Keiko loved to raise his body out of the water and make sounds to communicate. People called it a whale song. Keiko was familiar with humans.

Keiko died on December 12th, 2003. He was 27 years old. He died due to pneumonia.
