Contoh:
a. We play tennis.
b. I play tennis.
Ketika digabung dengan menggunakan elliptical construction, menjadi "We play tennis, and so do I."

Ada 3 jenis elliptical construction, yaitu:
1. Elliptical construction positive. (kalimat affirmative)
- Menggunakan too dan so.
- Contoh:
Andi has submitted his task, and Agus has too.
Andi has submitted his task, and so has Agus.

2. Elliptical construction negative (kalimat negative)
- Menggunakan either dan neither.
- Contoh:
Emily doesn’t speak English, and Cathy doesn’t either.
Emily doesn’t speak English, and neither does Cathy.

3. Elliptical construction contrary (kalimat affirmative dan negative Dengan makna berlawanan)
- Menggunakan kata but.
- Contoh:
I wrote a letter yesterday.
He didn’t write a letter yesterday.
Menjadi "I wrote a letter yesterday, but he didn’t."
