"At one time, the entire world ____ (rule) by dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs ____(walk) on their hind legs and ___(stand) as tall as palm trees." berarti "Pada suatu waktu, seluruh dunia ____ (menguasai) oleh dinosaurus. Beberapa dinosaurus ____(berjalan) dengan kaki belakangnya dan ___(berdiri) setinggi pohon palem."

Kalimat soal di atas ditulis dalam bentuk Simple Past Tense karena terdapat keterangan waktu "At one time".

Kalimat pertama adalah kalimat pasif karena terdapat kata "by" (oleh) yang merupakan ciri kalimat pasif dan sedangkan kalimat kedua adalah kalimat aktif karena subjek pada kalimat ini melakukan tindakan.

Rumus Simple Past:
(+) S + V2 + O

Rumus kalimat pasif:
(+) S + to be + V3 + by + O

To be dalam Simple Past Tense: was/were.

Was digunakan untuk subjek I, she, he dan it.
Were digunakan untuk subjek you, we dan they.

Karena subjek kalimat pertama adalah "the entire world" (it) maka to be yang digunakan adalah "was" dan kata kerja "rule" (V1) diubah menjadi "ruled" (V3). Sedangkan pada kalimat kedua kata kerjanya tdiubah menjadi V2 yaitu "walked" dan "stood".

Jadi, jawabannya adalah "was ruled" (dikuasai), "walked" dan "stood".
