Bing Slamet was one of the multitalented comedians from Indonesia. He was born on September 27, 1927. His achievements had made. him one of the greatest artists in Indonesia. Since a very young age, Bing Slamet had aspired to be an artist. In 1939, he already joined Terang Bulan Orchestra when he was only 12 years old. Then, he joined the much larger Pantja Warna theater group in 1944. However, his name became popular after joining Eka Sapta's music group with several big names in Indonesia's entertainment history, such as Yamin Wijaya, Ireng Maulana, Itje Kumaunang, Benny Mustapha, and Idris Sardi. During the time with Eka Sapta, he made 10 solo albums and 9 albums with his group. Bing Slamet also appeared in more than 20 Indonesian movies. In 1973, he starred the comedic movie "Bing Slamet Dukun Palsu" with famous actors, such as Ateng, Iskak, and Edy Sud. His comedic act brought the movie into the spotlight. Bing Slamet passed away on September 17, 1974. A 4km-long convoy followed his hearse which carried the maestro to his resting place in Karet Bivak Cemetery, Jakarta. Throughout his career, Bing Slamet received several awards: On June 10, 1972, he received an award from Ali Sadikin, the governor of Jakarta, for his dedication as an artist. Even after his dead, his brilliant achievements were not forgotten.He was awarded the Mark of Honor, Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma, from President Megawati Soekarno Putri on November 7, 2003.
