Bandung Geology Museum Geology museum was established on May 16th, 1928 and was later renovated with the funding assistance from llCA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). This classic museum is located at Diponegoro street, near Gedung Sate. In the museum, you can obtain the information related to geology and see some interesting collections, such as the skull (fossil) of the first human being in the world, the skeleton fossils of prehistoric animals, and a 156 kg meteorite that fell on March 30th, 1884 at Jatipelangon, Madiun. It stores and manages abundant geological materials, such as fossils, rocks, and minerals gathered during the fieldworks in Indonesia since 1850. Bandung Geology Museum is divided into two exhibition halls on the first and second floors. The first floor is divided into 3 main rooms: Orientation Room, West Wing Room and East Wing Room. The Orientation Room contains a geographical map of Indonesia in the form of wide screen reliefs showing an animation of geological activities in Indonesia. The West Wing Room is known as the geology room. The East Wing Room portrays the history of living creatures' growth and development, from the primitive one to the modern one. There are 3 special rooms in the second floor. The first room is the West Room. It is occupied by staffs of the museum. The second room is the Middle Room. It is used as a human life geology room. The last one is East Room. This room is divided into 7 small rooms,which give information about the positive things and negative about the geological structure of human life, especially in Indonesia.
