The angklung is one of many traditional musical instruments in Indonesia. It originated in West Java. It is made of two to four bamboo tubes.

The bamboo for angklung is harvested during two weeks each year. The bamboo is cut at least three segments above the ground. The bamboo, then, is cut into tubes. To produce certain tones, the tube is cut and carved on its sides. Two to four tubes are then attached to a bamboo frame using rattan cords. Each angklung produces one single note, so several players must work together to play the music.

The collaboration among the players is seen as the main value of angklung. It promotes cooperation, discipline, and concentration. By playing angklung, people also learn to respect others in order to produce the tones in harmony.
